To safeguard the journal's digital archive against data loss, technical failures, or platform disruptions, JPD employs multiple trusted digital preservation and archiving systems.

LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)

The Journal of Peace and Diplomacy supports the LOCKSS system, which enables participating libraries to collect, preserve, and provide continuing access to the journal's published content. LOCKSS creates multiple distributed copies of the journal's articles across a global network of libraries, ensuring long-term preservation and resilience against data loss.

CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)

The journal also participates in CLOCKSS, a community-governed dark archive that preserves scholarly literature for future generations. In the event that journal content becomes unavailable from the publisher, CLOCKSS ensures that the archived material can be made openly accessible, guaranteeing permanent scholarly access.

Internet Archive

The journal's published content is also preserved through the Internet Archive, providing an additional layer of long-term digital preservation and public accessibility. The Internet Archive maintains historical snapshots of journal content, contributing to the permanence and discoverability of published research.

Publisher's Digital Backup

In addition to third-party preservation services, the publisher performs regular backups of the journal's website, database, and published content on secure servers. Multiple backup copies are maintained to facilitate rapid recovery in the event of technical failures or unforeseen incidents.
